All This Time.
I remember the moment, I remember the pain
I was only a girl, but I grew up that day
Tears were falling
I know You saw me
Hiding there in my bedroom, so alone
I was doing my best, trying to be strong
No one to turn to
That's when I met You
All this time, from the first tear cried
'Till today's sunrise
And every single moment between
You were there, You were always there
It was You and I
You've been walking with me all this time
Ever since that day, it's been clear to me
That no matter what comes, You will never leave
I know You're for me
And You're a story
Every heartache and failure, every broken dream
You're the God who sees, the God who rescued me
This is my story
This is my story
All this time, from the first tear cried
'Till today's sunrise
And every single moment between
You were there, You were always there
It was You and I
You've been walking with me all this time
I hear these people asking me
How do I know what I believe
Well, I'm not the same me, and that's all the proof I need
I found love, I found Your grace
You stole my heart that day
I was only a girl, but I grew up that day
Tears were falling
I know You saw me
Hiding there in my bedroom, so alone
I was doing my best, trying to be strong
No one to turn to
That's when I met You
All this time, from the first tear cried
'Till today's sunrise
And every single moment between
You were there, You were always there
It was You and I
You've been walking with me all this time
Ever since that day, it's been clear to me

Cookie Dough.
I accomplished a few things this weekend -so far-:
- Bought 2 lbs of blueberries for $3.77. That price is unheard of!!! I think i'll go buy some more today...since I ended up eating about 3/4 of the container in one sitting.
- Ran 5.6 km on friday, and even better: just as I finished a gorgeous thunderstorm began forming right above me. I heard somewhere that lightning is more likely to strike you if you're using an iPod (is this true or am I just gullible?), so I had to put Mariana's Trench away. But cool rain is the best way to end a run!
- Made edible cookie dough!! What makes it "edible" is that it is eggless, and oh so delicious. I got the perfect recipe from THIS BLOG. Except she calls it "Cookie Dough for Preggies"...I don't know how to feel about myself now...
- Two amazing people in mine and my boyfriends life have just started dating, -finally-!!! All is right with the world. :)
- We ran out of clean spoons, so I ate my yoghurt with a 5 ML measuring spoon. You gotta make do with what ya got, you know?
- Ate ALL of the edible cookie dough I just made. When you're watching such a great movie as Raising Helen how can you not end up dishin' out the entire tupperware container?! Sigh, old habits die hard.
- Ran 6.6 km this morning!
- Skipped church this beautiful, sunny Sunday morning (I know...sue me) and we are about to leave for the Zoo! So excited!!
I just want to share with you little something that my boyfriend, Jarryd wrote to me about a week ago and it has been since engrained in my heart:
"So these are hard times? I don't think it has been as hard as our minds may make it to be...babe, the fact is that we always have joy with us, we carry Him with us everywhere we go."
This is so true. Sure, things are hard, life can be difficult, tiring, frustrating, and just plain exhausting, but honestly it's only as hard as you make it out to be. Think of all the ways you have been blessed! Stop complaining and start THANKING. Only Jesus should be our ultimate source of happiness, and since we have Him, how could we not be happy?

Kale Chips.
Today after work at the orchard, my boss said we could take home as many vegetables with us as we wanted! For FREE! I thought he was joking...but no! The world IS filled with sweet people after all!
And now after washing, shredding, drizzling garlic olive oil, and sprinkling salt, my kale chips are now roasting in the oven! Who knew you could make chips out of kale? I'm excited to see what they taste like.
On a side note, my new favourite obsession is hot lemon green tea with a teaspoon of honey. Last month it was large Iced Caps with cream. I'd say my new obsession is a tad bit healthier. Woo!

Martha Stewart.
This is the book I signed out of the library. I am SO excited!!!
Thanks to the magical Martha will I even need to go to culinary school after this?!

Food For Thought.
"Shopping for food is as much fun as buying a dress" -Julie & Julia
I totally, completely, and absolutely agree with the above quote! I LOVE grocery shopping, maybe even a tad MORE than clothes shopping. I've loved it since...forever. I remember when I was younger, whenever my mom would make the 20 minute trek to the Penner Foods -later turned- IGA -then turned- Sobeys, I would always tag along.
I don't know what it is. I'm in love with food, and eating, drinking, and tasting. Whenever I get my paychecks from work what runs through my mind is: After I pay my necessary bills for this week, how much money do I have left to buy groceries with?!
I spend hours grocery shopping. Going up and down each aisle meticulously, I take my sweet, sweet time. There's something fulfilling about glancing over each item, comparing prices, and realizing that yes, the cheap No-Name brand DOES taste as good as the expensive brand...or also realizing the unfortunate way that the No-Name brand of Garlic-BBQ sauce does not even come close to the classic Bullseye-BBQ sauce brand. It's all a matter of trial and error really.
I love food so much that in fact, each of my two jobs revolve around it...which explains why I actually love working so much.
Job #1: Orchard.
Five days a week I get up at 5:30 AM to make it to my 6 AM job on time. I LOVE starting so early because it means by the time 2 o'clock rolls around, I am done for the day! (Unless I have an evening shift lined up at my other job) So from 6-9 AM we are out in the field loading bins with freshly picked vegetables. The vegetables/fruits I have picked thus far in this current season of time are: sour cherries, black currents, red beets, golden beets, snap peas, snow peas, shell peas, green zucchini, yellow zucchini, spaghetti squash, pattie-pan squash, kale, dill, spinach, broccoli, purple carrots, orange carrots, white carrots, swiss chard, cherry tomatoes, chocolate-cherry tomatoes, tomatoes, ground cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red potatoes, golden potatoes, eggplant, green beans, yellow beans, purple beans...and off the top of my head that is all I can think of.
Then from 9-12 we are washing and weighing ALL of the vegetables we have picked for the day, except for the dill...I learned the hard way that spraying dill with water causes it to lose flavour. Who knew?
And then from 12-2 pm we are out in the fields either picking some more vegetables/fruits or we are weeding. Either of those I do not mind at all. Some people despise weeding; I find it rather therapeutic...because all you do is think think think. Think about that song in your head, why your co-worker somehow has waaaay more beets in her bin than you do, or reminding yourself -over and over again- that "forgiveness sets the prisoner free, not you, but me".
Job #2: Grocery Store.
Yes, I know what you're thinking: this girl loves grocery shopping THAT much that she actually works at a grocery store?! Hahaha.
Well, yes, your thoughts are true! I work at a grocery store, and I happen to love it. :)
Scanning hundreds of groceries through the till has more than enough benefits for me. After I complete my 6-month probation period I then receive a card which gives me a 10% discount on all of my grocery shopping. How fitting is that?! Also, everyday I get to see first-hand what's on sale, what's new in the store, and essentially, what looks yummy. On a side-note, after almost 2 months of working as a cashier, I have met the most interesting of people including a man with 38 piercings.
So that is pretty much my life right now, which explains the lack of blogging. By September I will need to look for another full-time job, as an orchard in Canada can only run in the summer months. But once February rolls around, I will be officially enrolled as a Culinary Arts & Design student!!! I am so excited!! I really have no educated clue on what to expect...will I like it? Is this going to take the fun out of cooking entirely? Will I come home crying every day? Will I attain fabulous amounts of culinary knowledge? Will I LOVE it? I guess we'll just have to find out!
After all this talk about how much I love food and cooking, I'm going to be lazy tonight and grab some KFC take-out with my hunny. Mmm mmm! :)

Europe.
If life here in North America fails me, I will make the move to beautiful Europe,
I will learn the language of {depending on where I live} either Italian or German,
and I'll work in a quaint little bakery, selling sugar-dusty Berliners and chocolate-banana crepes.
I'll take my baby-pink bicycle down to the bridge, park it, and feed the leftover bread crumbs to the birds.
My little flat will be just down the cobblestone street and around the corner to the left. And everyday my little white Scottish-fold kitty will be sitting on the window sill, waiting for me to come home.

The Redeemer
Sometimes I just want to start over, 'cause everything looks like a wreck
And I need the courage to carry on, 'cause I can't see what's ahead
And there are places I've wished I could be, battles I've wanted to win
Dreams that have slipped through my hands
I may never get back again
But I'm still a dreamer, a believer
Oh, I've lost my faith in so many things, but I still believe in You
'Cause You can make anything new
Sometimes I just wish we could say all the things that are easy to hear
Ignore the injustice we see and explain every unanswered prayer
But I'd rather speak honestly and wear a tattered heart on my sleeve
'Cause in the middle of my broken dreams, redemption is here
And I'm still a dreamer, a believer
Oh, I've lost my faith in so many things, but I still believe in You
'Cause You are the answer, the redeemer
Oh, I've given up on too many things, but I'm not giving up on You
'Cause You can make anything new
I don't have every answer in life
But I'm trusting You one day at a time
'Cause You can make a weak heart stay alive forever
this is where Heaven and Earth collide
I lift my hands and give my life
This is how my weary heart stays alive
Oh, I'm still a dreamer (This is where heaven and earth collide)
(I lift my hands and give my life)
Still a believer (This is how my weary heart stays alive)
Oh, You are the answer (Oh, this is where Heaven and Earth collide)
(I lift my voice and give my life)
The redeemer (This is how my weary heart stays alive, oh)
'Cause You can make anything new
Yeah, You can make anything new
